Monday already?! The weekend flew by over here. The week always drags on, but weekends fly by.
Thank you President's Day. I'm off from school and work today, but we'll get to that in a second.
As my mom requested over the weekend, apparently early Saturday mornings are the best time to shop at Trader Joe's. Oh Joe the Trader, how I love thee. Except, I do not love it when it's midday on a weekend and you can't even push your cart down the aisle. Cart rage anyone?
Let's talk about some of hidden gems I found there. Sliced turkey has been floating around the blog world for a couple of weeks now and once I saw, I knew I had to try it. Slimey and over salted deli turkey is not my thing, so this package looked like the real deal. I'll let you all know what the verdict is.
Eating a ton of protein daily, sometimes I get sick of the usual grilled chicken. I wanted to mix it up this week with some lentils. Maybe planning lentil sloppy joes or sauteing them with some mixed veggies? We shall see.
Only $3.69 for a pack of sushi?!? Why is it SOOOOO cheap? I would have bought ten of them if they would last. California rolls are delish.
As we all know I'm a makeup and hair product junkie. Usually, I never venture over into the cleaning the house products // bathroom toiletries section of TJ's. But since my mom was with me and she is even worse with hair products than me, she wanted to try this conditioner out. Has anyone tried it before?
Sparkling seltzer water? Don't mind if I do. I've been on a huge seltzer/sparkling water kick lately.
And now let's go behind the scenes of why I'm off instead of working my butt off like usual. I haven't been posting about my intense workouts lately, because frankly, they haven't been happening like usual. I came down with the chicken pox about two weeks ago now. Thankfully, it was a more mild case and I was not covered in head to toe polka dots. That is a bad look for anyone. Anyway, after getting better from that, I've had a sinus infection for the past week now that keeps on lingering.
Some other strange things have been going on like double vision, feeling shaky after I just ate, feeling exhausted from nothing, and a bunch of other things. So after talking to my doctor I decided to take a leave of absence from my job for a month to fully recover. They're not sure exactly whats wrong so a bunch of blood tests will be done to check for thyroid issues, chronic fatigue, and all my blood levels.
As of right now I've just been focusing on my weight training and barely doing any cardio. Hopefully I'll feel better this week and get in some light walking.
Enjoy the day off !
Question- What is your favorite thing to buy at Trader Joe's?
I wish it was closer to me because the produce//veggies are so cheap!
Oh my Gosh, Ashley! I hope you feel better soon and kick whatever you have's butt! That sounds awful and am glad you only had a mild case of chicken pox, but that is still terrible. Rest up and take it easy. Praying the find something soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Heather!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE TJ's! I had no idea that they had pre-made lentils. I will definitely be buying some of these because I tend to lack the patience that is required for cooking them at home. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteSuper easy, you can eat them right out of the package. A customer there told me to sauté them with the precut veggies they sell. She said it is amazing. I'll let you know when I try it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better! I love trader joe's and especially love raiding their soy section. My favorite thing to buy there is soy chorizo, which I've yet to find in any other store!
ReplyDeleteOooooh never tried that!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous you got the day off -- but hope you feel better! I like your blog :)
ReplyDeleteThank you xox
