Sushi Date and Caramel Sauce

Long time no talk huh? I had all intentions of coming back and chatting with you guys on Sunday, but the day just flew by. Sometimes it feels like I need 36 hours in a day instead of only 24. To be honest, it was kind of nice shutting the computer down for the day. Technology is something that is very easy for me to get addicted to.

Even though this weekend was a busy one, it was a marvelous one. Thanks to Katie for Marvelous Mondays!

On Saturday I picked up a new cereal at my local health food store. Finding a gluten free cereal thaat is low in sugar, but high in protein proved to be a challenge. We all know I eat my beloved oatmeal cookie almost everyday, but a girl has to change it up every once in awhile. This one by Better Balance is pretty tasty, but at $8 a box, it is def. not something I can afford on a regular basis. That is way too much money for a box of cereal, but it is nice for a treat.

The boyfriend and I spent the majority of the day catching up on our tv shows. His dog, Cooper, wanted to spend some quality time with us also. He would not leave use alone even for a minute and hogged the entire couch. As you can see he was quite comfy on our laps.

For dinner we met up with our friends, Tina and Ron, for a double sushi date! Let's just say the sushi was fabuuuulous. I still can't get over the sushi dragon. And I almost got glutened! I wanted to expand my sushi horizons and thought I would be all adventurous ordering an eel roll. Little did I know, the eel is covered in soy sauce. Thankfully, I only had one bite and realized quickly it was covered in soy. The staff was nice enough to switch it out for a California roll. I was glad I did not repeat the P.F. Chang's gluten incident of 2012, in which I almost got sick at the table.

After dinner my sweet tooth kicked in and we all went for ice cream. From literally everyone- I've head Kilwin's ice cream shop is the place for ice cream. Apparently, they are known for their caramel and hot sauce because it is all homemade. Let's just say this place did not disappoint. I ended up choosing chocolate peanut butter with caramel sauce. And the toppings were not cheap. The worst is when you go to an ice cream place and you get one little measly topping. And you're like I just paid $5 for those three little chocolate chips in my cup...Just look at that huge coating of caramel sauce. I licked that bowl clean.

Sunday ended up going by super quick as well. I even got outside in the morning for a short walk and the fresh air seemed to help my breathing. Then, I decided to brave the crowds at Trader Joe's (midday even!) and picked up a couple things. I still can't get over how much cheaper some regular items are there. Also, I was proud to say I was in and out in under 15 minutes!! <---This time might be a record for me.

Since I had a couple places to go, I packed a lunch to bring along with me. Vanilla chobani with fresh strawberries and some protein cheerios held me over.

After all my fun this weekend, last night I crashed out in front of the tv. And it felt good. I flipped through some of the Oscars. I can only watch so much of the dragged out award speeches.

How was your weekend friends?

Did you watch the Oscars?
