Dealing With Being A Quitter

Thinking I had no plans on the agenda for yesterday ended up proving me wrong. Monday turned into one busy and quick day.

It was the first day my cold said goodbye (yay) since I was so over being sick.

I managed to get a quick walk in at the park before the snow/rain started falling. Boy oh boy, was it cold yesterday. I bundled up with my thick scarf, but it was still freeeeeezing. Where is spring?

Anyway after my cold walk, I met up with my mom for a dinner date since we had alot of catching up to do! Some big things happened this weekend, we'll chat about them in a second. Of course we chose Panera since we both haven't been there in awhile. And by awhile I really mean like a month :)

One salad I have never tried before was the chicken cobb salad so I decided on that one. Add my favorite creamy tomato soup to the table and I was stuffed.
So delicious! Now all Panera has to do is get gluten free bread and I will be all set!!
So we had a nice chat about my current job situation. I haven't really mentioned work at all lately since my leave of absence. On Saturday I ended up quitting after three years of working there. I felt like I reached a point there where I was no longer happy going into work. It felt more like a chore more than anything. If I'm going to be really honest, the money was keeping me there for longer then it should have.

My leave of absence showed me how much happier I was when I wasn't there. The whole place just put me in a bad mood. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. I am doing my best not to stress about leaving. I am trusting that a better job opportunity will come along when the time is right. Everything in my life has worked out how it is supposed to in the past and this is no exception.

Change is scary but it is for the best.

One thing I will miss is the cute puppies! Come on, I can't even handle this adorableness.

Questions for the morning-

Have you ever quit a job? What was your experience like? Advice?

  1. I have not had a job yet, but I can imagine how stressful that must feel. I am sure that another job opportunity will be waiting for you! Keep being positive, you got this!

  2. I left a job for somewhere else and it was quite stressful because I felt like I was letting the place down, but at the end of the day you need to do what's right for you. If you're not happy there then there is no shame in quitting! Don't see it as a negative, but as positive heading in the right direction for your life :)

  4. Way to follow your heart! Things will certainly work out how they are intended to :).

LOVE Panera. It is definitely one of my favorite "fast food" restaurants (and, in fact, one of the only ones that I will eat at!)

  5. Being in a job you don't like is miserable. I had a great paying job right out of college that I HATED...I seriously cried every morning in the shower just thinking about the day ahead. I wanted to quit SO bad... but the money. It was such good money. After 2.5 years, I finally did it. I QUIT. I took a 50% pay cut... but I was 150 times happier. Best decision ever. I haven't regretted it for a second. Good luck in your new endeavors. Life is too short to be miserable and money doesn't buy happiness.

  6. I'm currently in a job I don't love either and I'm planning on leaving soon as well. I've put in my notice and will finish in August. It's scary but I too believe it is the right thing to do!

  7. thai chopped chicken salad from Panera is my FAVORITE!

As for the job, you have to do what is right for you. I was MISERABLE at a job once and I was unable to handle it any longer so I had to make the decision to change it up. You HAVE to do what is right!

  8. I quit my first job out of undergrad and I honestly think it's one of the best decisions I have made. It was horrible, I was crying almost every day after work. Quitting that job let me realize I wanted to attend grad school and I am now currently working part time and love the people I work with. I also think only working part time while finishing grad school is good as it allows me more study time. you will find a better job!
