Butternut Squash And Cinnamon Vodka

Sounds like a strange flavor combination, but I promise it is rather marvelous. I'll explain in a second...

This weekend was a pretty low key one in our neck of the woods. Troy and I spent Friday night watching the show, 24, all night long. Once we start a series we need to finish it asap.

Since Friday night we spent glued to the tv, we ventured out Saturday night to meet up with friends. But let's back it up to the morning. I figured we would be out late that evening and Sunday would end up being a rest day. You know when you're in one of those zombie states at the gym? Yeah that was me on the treadmill. I did some HIIT cardio for 30 minutes and called it a day.

Starbucks iced skinny vanilla lattee as a post workout treat!

The rest of the day was spent just doing some things around the house. Nothing crazy but felt good to get some things organized. Neither one of us felt like whipping anything up for dinner so takeout it was. My go to is steamed chicken with veggies and brown rice. There was plenty leftover for lunch.

Luckily it stopped raining when it was time to go out. My hair + rain = not a good look. We met up with Tina and Ron and headed to the bar Cortland for the night. This place has one of my favorite drinks of all time. Which is really saying something because I am not a fan of many drinks at all. The drink is vodka infused with butternut squash and cinnamon. It really does taste like apple pie. Troy describes it as "tastes like Thanksgiving". So so good!
After that late night for this grandma I woke up super late Sunday morning. (shocker I know!) For breakfast, errr lunch, I was craving an egg sandwich so much I had to fix myself one. I made two eggs over easy, cheese, and turkey bacon all piled on a gluten free english muffin. Hit the spot.
The rest of the day was spent visiting family. The weather was super iffy all day, but finally the sun broke out in the afternoon. So we all got to go swimming. My cousin even braided my hair all neat!
You guys may remember me going on and on about these sorbet treats awhile back. Well they popped up last night thanks to my aunt. They were just as good as I remembered. This time I went with the pineapple one, which was good, but surprisingly not my favorite.
There's my weekend in a nutshell. Did you guys do anything fun?!

Have you ever tried an infused drink with weird flavors?

Favorite drink at Starbucks? I need some new ideas!

  1. My fav at Starbucks is nothing fancy. Komodo Dragon coffee. Although, lately I've been loving a venti passion tea or zen tea unsweetened post-run. On Saturday I actually ordered both :) It must be the heat.

    1. The zen tea sounds good. Same here! Once it gets above 85 I feel like I'm drinking water constantly.

  2. I am loving the hair! I WISH that I was talented enough to braid hair. I also wish that I could do it to my own hair, but I don't see that happening anytime soon :(.

    1. I can do a messy French braid on myself, but can never do it other people. Strange.

  5. Cinnamon vodka!!!! wow, thats unusual. When I was doing a semester exchange in NY, i was amazed at the flavour varieties you guys had. Especially the peanut butter one! Here in Australia the most exotic or interesting flavour might be coconut :p
