Sorry I didn't get to pop in and chat with you all this weekend. It was a busy one!
Friday started off with absolutely gorgeous sunshine and perfectly hot weather (think 75 degrees). Troy and I both had the day off from school/work so we made a spontaneous trip to the beach.
It was the first time we've seen it since Hurricane Sandy. Wow, there was about 15 feet of beach left during low tide. I can't even imagine how packed it will be on weekends during the summer months.
I was on the hunt for a perfect coffee pot for mom.
After that task was finished, we made a quick stop at Petsmart. We brought Cooper along so he could pick out a toy.
For fellow dog owners, this is the only frisbee he can't destroy within 10 minutes. Those plastic ones are goners, but this triangle shaped foam one lasts for months.
We ended the night with some bowling with our friends Tina and Ron. By the way, Troy is a real pro bowler, so me beating him during one game was aweeeeeeeeeesome!
Moving onto Sunday, there was a ton of delicious food around. First off sushi was served for dinner. Yay. :Happy Dance:
But the real highlight from our family get together were these babies:
Fruit sorbet served in a real fruit shell. I tried the passionate mangoes for my dessert.
Talk about deliciousness! These were a huge hit with everyone including my mom.So the weekend that started off with hardly any plans ended up being pretty marvelous. Life always has a way of working out :)

Question:
What was the best dessert you've had recently?

Deletehad a gluten free vegan chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting yesterday! Ok, I actually had two - yum!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteoh wow that sounds really good!
DeleteThat sushi and dessert looks really good! I have been craving sushi recently, thinking I might try and talk T into going with me this week.
ReplyDeleteI love getting it as a treat! I've even been adventurous and trying new rolls.
DeleteSounds like a good weekend! Sushi and the beach <3
ReplyDeleteYour mom is too cute! Hope she had a fab mother's day!
Yes, she got a new coffee pot and some gift cards so she was happy :)
DeleteMy favorite homemade dessert is carrot cake!! But, for a dessert that is not homemade, FROYO!!
ReplyDeleteI've just tried carrot cake recently for the first time & I was surprised I was a fan.
DeleteBest dessert are plain o'l chocolate chip cookies. I have the best recipe!
ReplyDeleteOoh I've had those sorbet fruit cups from Costco before and they are so good! I'm really into my banana frozen yogurt lately but we did make a stop for froyo yesterday and I had a blackberry cheesecake that was really good!
ReplyDeleteMmm cheesecake sounds good. I hope more grocery stores start to sell these!
DeleteAh, congrats on beating Troy @ bowling. Way to show him whose boss, Ha Ha :)
ReplyDeleteThe best dessert is the one I haven't had yet. I told my older daughter that for Mother's Day I wanted cookie dough. Not cookies. But I asked her to find a recipe without eggs so we could eat it without getting tummyaches. And the ingredients are in the kitchen, but we never actually craved it on Mother's Day. So next time the craving hits, we'll be ready!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cookie dough. It's the best part about making cookies ;)
